A history of plasma panels

Plasma display technology has been around for over forty years. One of its long-time leaders, Larry Weber, believes the best is yet to come in plasma televisions. Here's a look at some of its milestones.

Here is one of the first large plasma display panels, developed in 1987 by a company called Photonics. Though it still utilised only two colours, black and orange, rival technology liquid crystal display (LCD) couldn't yet compete in sizes that big.
