Creative's strokable earcans

April 10th, 2008 by Ella Morton

Creative's HQ-1400 (left) and HQ-1900 headphones.

Creative launched two new headphone models today, both featuring smooth velvet padding to cushion your precious pinnas.

The HQ-1400 model is the cheaper of the pair at AU$39.95, and packs 40mm Neodymium drivers into its square earcups. The headphones are big enough to encase your ears, and Creative reckons the layer of velvet is enough to isolate you from the pesky outside world.

The HQ-1900s are targeted to the itinerant DJ set and feature a foldable design and smaller, round earcups with 30mm drivers. They retail for AU$49.95.

The velvet lining is a change from the usual leather or synthetic padding you'll find on earcans, but we wonder just how toasty the temperatures will get in there. As we've learned from the Austin Powers franchise, anything clad in velvet can make you blush.
