Apple uncovers Sydney store for the first time

May 26th, 2008 by Alex Serpo

in brief Apple's first official store in the southern hemisphere coming to Sydney, with a giant banner which was uncovered announcing the store on George Street today.

Apple said that the store, located on the corner of George Street between King and Market Streets, cost over AU$23 million to build, and there have been rumours the store is modelled on Apple's flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue.

The reports of the store first surfaced in October 2007 after the Sydney City Council leaked documents relating to its construction.
