Apple Store opening on the Gold Coast
May 5th, 2009 by Pam CarrollQueenslanders will finally have their own Apple store Mecca, with the opening of the first Apple retail store in the state on Saturday, 9 May at the Robina Town Centre.
It will be the fourth Australian retail outlet Apple has opened in Australia in the past year, following the hoopla of the showcase outlet on Sydney's George Street, and the more suburban fare at Sydney's Chatswood Chase and Melbourne's Chadstone shopping centres.
Gold Coast Apple shoppers will be able to access the store's free Wi-Fi and test drive the Mac, iPod and iPhone products on display or take part in the free hands-on workshops on offer.
The Apple Store Robina is located at Unit 4073, Robina Town Centre, Robina Town Centre Drive.

I was 425th in the line of the new Robina store. The line was huge and the atmosphere was great. The media had their walk through at 8:30. Then the excitement grew. Apple must train the security guards as well because they were all friendly and nice when asking us to stay in queue. well above the standards I'm used to in qld. Apple have everything covered! I couldn't see once the doors opened but waiting was half the fun. Chatting with people about setups and upgrades etc made the time go. The security once again were cool enough to count the numbers out as you went in. Ha. Standard fare on the way in with clapping and tshirts and cheering. The shop is deep and well presented as usual. They have cool surfboard iPhone covers I hadn't seen before. Got one. Talk about impulse! Nothing beats a fresh apple store!!!

That's just peachy keen, but when are we going to get one in Brisbane? Northside for preference. I live on the north coast and I for one would rather catch a plane to go to a Sydney store than drive 4 hours to the Gold Coast.
