World's first performance memory for MacBooks

March 14th, 2008 by Ty Pendlebury

Apple fans rejoice! Corsair has announced what it is calling the "world's first" performance memory upgrade for MacBook and MacBook Pros.

Apple products tend to get overlooked as "performance" or "enthusiast" machines so this product goes some small way to redress the balance.

The 4GB Mac Memory kit features a low latency design (4-4-4-12), with up to a claimed 28 percent improvement in overall system performance.

Corsair claims the memory's Serial Presence Detect technology allows Macs to optimise themselves for best performance, and has been bench-tested on several applications including Adobe Photoshop and Apple BootCamp (Vista).

"The Corsair brand is synonymous with high-performance PC memory modules. These Mac Memory SODIMMs featuring new SPD settings, in conjunction with our high-quality standard chip screening process, allows Corsair to offer the first ever enhanced performance laptop memory for Mac," said Jack Peterson, VP of Corporate Marketing at Corsair in a press release.

The 4GB RAM modules will be available in late March for AU$179.

Corsair's 4GB performance Mac Memory sells for under AU$200.
